What does the button lock look like? What does the outside emergency unlock look like?

A. The Weslock 3710I Privacy Door Knob Set has a push button lock on the inside next to the handle on the rosette. The outside emergency unlock is a small hole on the exterior rosette next to the handle opposite the inside push button lock. A small key is provided with the set to unlock or you may use a small screwdriver as well.

The push button is below the knob and you gently push it in from the interior -- is there a way to open this door from the exterior -- please explain - thanks.

A. At the same place as the push button, on the exterior, there is a small pin hole. Like most privacy handles, if you poke a pin/toothpic/bobbypin or other long thin device into it, it will unlock.

How does the emergency release key work on the privacy door?

A. There is a pin hole on the knob on the outside of the door. You will insert the privacy key into the knob and it will push down on a latch that will release the knob allowing the door to be opened. The privacy key is not like a normal key, it is more like a thin rod that will fit in the hole on the knob.

How does the door unlock? Do you just turn the knob or have to pull on the awardly placed push button?

A. To unlock it you just turn the knob. To lock it, you have to push the pin button in.

Is the latch removable on this design? If I order them with a latch but have to install as a drive in, is this possible?

A. The Weslock 3710I can be ordered with the drive in or the round/square corner latch. If you get the round and square corner the latch cannot be installed without the plate. For a drive in installation, you will need to make sure you get the drive in latch.

Is this knob make of a heavy solid metal, or is it hollow and light in weight?

A. The Weslock 3710I is hollow but heavy. It weighs 3 lbs.

Do drive in latch types come with striker plates?

A. The Weslock 3700P drive in latch will feature a strike plate.

my interior door is 2 3/4 inches will this lockset work ?

A. If you are talking about the backset then yes this will work. The thickest door this can work on though is 1-3/4"
